I have been building model aircraft since I was given my first pocket knife at age 5. My father noticed that I was whittling wooden airplanes from pieces of wood I would find. He got me my first kit, at 7 years old, A Strombecker solid wood display model of the p-80 Shooting Star. This model started my collection of display models I collected until I finished high School.

When I was 9, I received a Cox TD-3 ready to fly for Christmas. It was never flown because I was afraid I would crash  it. It eventually, and literally, rotted away due to the smoggy atmosphere in Los Angelos in the 50’s.

I began flying CL at about 12 years old. It was a K&B aluminum Flying Delta Wing. It was tough, and needed to be so, as it endured multiple crashes from two youngsters trying to teach themselves to fly in a Cul-de-Sac.

By the age of 15 I began flying large models , compared to the 1/2A’s, I’d been flying. My first large plane was a Sterling Mustang, powered with a McCoy .35 RH. It was bought with money I earned from my paper route. I’ll always remember the Green Box Nobler, and Thunderbird 2 that were the last planes I flew before entering active duty with the Navy in 1962. They were both  powered with that same McCoy.

Like most of us, I took time off while I married, raised a family, and moved around the country.

1982 was the year I returned to model aircraft. I’ve been involved in the sport in one form or another since.

I believe;

A quality plan is the beginning of a great project, whether a model airplane, or any construction project.

  The accuracy of  CAD drawings, coupled with Laser Cutting of parts will deliver the best fits, for a faster, simpler, and more accurate build.

I strive to produce the best quality, and accurate plans available. I strive to always produce a pattern sheet to make it easier for scratch builders to produce an accurate kit to build from.

My work has been used by many of the top kit makers in the hobby today, and featured in several published articles.

Thank you for your interest, and I hope I may be of service to you.

Serge Belko visiting from the Ukraine, inspects his original design at the 2008 Golden State contest.

Notice also His unique Belko designed engine. It really ran nice.

The entire combination flew very well.
